Principal Notes
January 2010
Welcome to a new year! Before you know it, summer will be here and another school year will be over. We reach our half-way mark on January 22, our 90th day of school. This also ends the second marking period, so report cards will be going home on Friday, January 29.
January is the month we celebrate the fine education that Catholic schools offer with activities that highlight our unique nature. We have a great deal to be proud of as a nationwide Catholic school system and that includes our own Saint Hedwig Parish School. This month we will be hosting a Kindergarten and Pre-K Grandparent Brunch on Tuesday, January 19, and Grandparent Luncheons for Grades 1-4 on Monday, January 25 and for Grades 5-8 on Wednesday, January 27. All students are welcome to invite their grandparents or other special guests to join them for these meals. Reservation forms have been sent home, so please return them so we can prepare.
We will continue to celebrate Catholic Schools Month with a special student mass on Sunday, January 17, 11:00 AM. Please join us and celebrate our Catholicity with your children and any guests you might like to invite. The Home and School Association will be sponsoring a social afterwards in the school cafeteria. See you there!
On Wednesday evening, January 13, the HSA is sponsoring a “Friendly Night at Friendly’s”. Join us at Friendly’s Restaurant in Naugatuck between 5 and 8 PM for either eat-in or take out. Saint Hedwig School will receive 20% of the receipts for these three hours. What a ‘friendly’ way to raise funds for the school! We hope you will join us.
With the new year comes more attention to the next school year. We will begin our new student recruitment with an Open House on Wednesday evening, January 20 at 7 PM. If you know of any families who are interested in giving their child the gift of a fine Catholic education, please encourage them to attend this informative evening. You might also attend with them to give that personal touch in introducing them to the school. All families are welcome who are considering enrolling their child in Pre-kindergarten through Grade 8.
For students currently attending Saint Hedwig School, registration papers will be going home shortly to enroll for the 2010-2011 school year. Details on this process will follow.
Once again, Happy New Year! May you have a happy, rewarding, and blessed 2010.
